In another one of those highly questionable WBC Asian Boxing Council title fights Filipino Elmar Francisco (Singwancha) who has as many losses as WBC Asian Boxing Council bantamweight champion Yodchanchai Nakornloung is scheduled to battle the Thai champion at the national stadium in Bangkok today.
The 25 year old Francisco has an unimpressive record of 15 wins as against 13 defeats and 1 draw with only 3 knockouts while Yodchanchai has a record of 13 wins with 12 coming by way of knockouts and 2 defeats raising serious questions of a mismatch.
Francisco is not even ranked in the top 13 of the Asian Boxing Council bantamweight division although he is coming off three successive victories over unheralded opponents.
Francisco who weighed in two pounds under the limit at 116 pounds compared to Yodchanchai who made the 118 pound limit scored an eight round split decision win over Eric Rapada (13-15-5, 4 KO?s) on March 7 after winning a six round unanimous decision over Michael Romulo (3-15-7, 2 KO?s) last May 22.
On July 16 Francisco won the Mindanao Pro Boxing Federation title with a victory over Ronnie Dex Dalut (5-3, 2 KO?s) last July 16.
Panamanian boxing writer Carlos Costa reported from Bangkok that Francisco (Singwancha) will be assisted in his corner by international matchmaker and cornerman Brico Santig and head trainer Sonny Dichoso.
The 32 year old Yodchanchai whose birth name is Rachan Yageow won the vacant WBC ABC title with a 2nd round TKO of Fiipino Edwin Tumbaga last March 3. He had earlier won the vacant super flyweight title with a 2nd round knockout of Little Roseman of Indonesia on April 23, 2010.
