Well-known Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani has received the coveted World Boxing Organization award as ?Promoter of the Year? in an awards ceremony on the second day of the WBO Convention in Puerto Rico.

The awards at the convention were presented by WBO president Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel. Valcarcel began his annual report by highlighting the achievements of a roster of great Filipino fighters. He said ?we have five champions, four men and one woman. We congratulate the Philippines for the great achievements through our organization (the WBO).?

Viloria previously won the WBC light flyweight title with a 1st round knockout of Eric Ortiz on September 10, 2005 and then went on to win the IBF light flyweight title with a cracking 11th round knockout of Ulises Solis on April 19, 2009 at the Araneta Coliseum.
