Pinoy Pride IX takes place this this weekend at Bacolod City, Philippines but another Pinoy Pride card is slated to take place in California on October 27, 2011. Top Rank promotions and Manny Pacquiao's MP Promotions presents World Class Championship Boxing featuring three of our Filipino fighters at the San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino in Highland CA.

Headlining the night is Bernabe "Kamaong Llave" Concepcion 28-5-1 (15 KOs) of Virac, Catanduanes who is facing Aaron Garcia 10-2-2 (2 KOs) of Vista, CA in a 10 round featherweight bout. This is Concepcion's return bout after being upset by Mexican Juan Carlos Martinez in Las Vegas in the eve of the Pacquiao - Mosley match in May of this year. He also lost to then WBO featherweight titlist Juan Manuel Lopez in July 2010 prior to his split decision loss to Martinez. It is a must win bout for Concepcion if he hopes to get his boxing career back in track. He faces the 29 year old Garcia who is a stable mate of another Filipino fighter, Mercito Gesta.

Rodel "Batang Mandaue" Mayol 29-5-2 (21 KOs) of Mandaue City, Cebu Philippines will attempt to win his fourth consecutive fight in an 8 round flyweight bout against veteran Luis Maldonado 36-7-1 (27 KOs) of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. Mayol is fresh from a UD win over fellow countryman Jayson Rotoni last August 6 in his hometown of Mandaue City. A win here will bring him closer in his quest for a second world title, this time in the flyweight division. Maldonado won his last fight via a 2nd round TKO of fellow Mexican Javier Romano last August 27, but he is a loser of his last four bouts prior to that win in Guerrero, Mexico.

Rounding up the Filipino invasion will be fellow flyweight Richie "Magnum" Mepranum 24-2-1 (5 KOs) of Maasim, Sarangani Philippines. He will be facing another Mexican fighter in Rigoberto "Planchita" Casillas 2-5-1 (1 KO) of Tijuana, Baja California. Mepranum is fresh from a UD win last month in Mexico against Valentin Leon. He dropped Leon in round 3 of that fight en route to the win. Casillas meantime is a loser of his last two fights and drew the one before that. This is Mepranum's second fight this year after being sidelined for more than 10 months after his win in the Pacquiao - Margarito undercard in Dallas, TX last year.

Tickets for the fight are $90 and $50 and can now be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or at the casino. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. Manny Pacquiao himself is expected to be there who will be cheering and supporting his fighters and fellow countrymen that night.
