Tough Sylvester ?Silver? Lopez, the reigning WBC International super flyweight champion who is ranked No. 1 goes for the WBC silver title against champion Oscar ?Ceviche? Ibarra who is ranked No. 2, at the Plaza De Toros in Queretaro, Mexico on Sunday.

Two other Filipinos Ricky Sismundo and veteran Juanito Rubillar will also see action on the fight card. Sismundo clashes with Dante ?Crazy? Jardon, the current WBC featherweight youth world champion in a final eliminator for the WBC world title while Rubillar faces Mexico?s flyweight champion Edgar ?Power? Jimenez.

At the official weigh in Lopez came in at 113.75 and Ibarra 113.95 while Jardon tipped the scales at 129.4 and Sismundo at 130. Jimenez weughed 113.75 pounds while Rubillar checked in ay 114.50.

The 23 year old Lopez has a record of 16-3-1 with 12 knockouts and is coming off a 1st round TKO over Mexican veteran Everado Morales last May 14 in a WBC International title fight. Should he win Lopez is assured of a title shot against world champion Suriyan Sor Rungvisai of Thailand.

Ibarra, who has a record of 27 victories -18 by knockout- and 4 defeats has pointed out that he is ready to follow the path set by his cousin, featherweight Jhonny Gonz?lez, and become world champion.

The WBC website quoted Ibarra who said ?I know that my rival is a very good fighter, he is number one on the ranking and that?s why I prepared myself like never before in my career.?

The 24 year old super featherweight Sismundo who has a record of 23-5 with 8 knockouts won a ten round decision over former world title challenger Balweg Bangoyan last August 27. Bangoyan had lost by a 5th round TKO to world champion Toshiani Nishioka of Japan on April 30, 2010. Sismundo also retired in the sixth round of a WBO Oriental featherweight title fight to devastating puncher Lorenzo Villanueva who is currently being trained by Freddie Roach at pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao?s training camp in Baguio City.

Jardon told the WBC website that Filipinos are ?Fighters that go forward, they?re very crude, very tough; we?re also tough and very strong. My plan is to give a great show but, above all, be victorious. If I get to touch him I won?t stop, I will hurt him and it will end in knockout; if not, we?re ready for the ten rounds.?

Jardon mentioned what he has going for him in this fight stating ?my strength is my discipline and my will to fight hard, this is my sixth defense. I believe I?m well prepared, I?m very motivated and I hope to keep my winning streak. Doors are opening for something bigger but first we have to clear every doubt and we really hope to make it. I wish to thank the fandom for their support, those are nice people, really cool and?well, I just promise them a great show, I hope they enjoy it and let?s hope the title stays in Mexico?.

Rubillar who fought an unprecedented eight times for a world title but never won has a record of 48-17-7 with 23 knockouts. The 34 year old southpaw lost by a 7th round TKO to Oscar Ibarra who fights on the same card, last May 21 in a WBC silver super flyweight title bout.

Rubillar has lost four fights in a row including two controversial decisions, one by majority decision and a rematch by a split decision in IBO light flyweight title fights against Hekkie Budler of South Africa.

The ageing Rubillar is expected to have a hard time against Edgar ?Power? Jimenez who has a 13-5-1, 10 knockout record. Jimenez won the Mexican title with a 4th round knockout of former world champion Eric Ortiz last July 23.
