
JETLY PURISIMA LOSES IN WBC INT?L SILVER TITLE BID

Philippine Boxing Federation light flyweight champion Jetly Purisima has lost by an 11th round knockout in his WBC International silver minimum weight title fight against Wanheng Menayothin at the Municipal Stadium in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.
With the win, the 25 year old Menayothin kept his unbeaten record in tact at 18-0 with 5 knockouts while the 23 year old Purisim dropped to a distressing 15-12-1 with 3 knockouts and according to boxrec.com the Filipino has lost five of his last six fights.
The only win was when Lionel Legada retired in the 5th round of the PBA title fight last May 14 when Legada was bleeding profusely from the mouth, reportedly because of a broken tooth.
Menayothin won the vacant title with a ten round technical decision over Remy Cuambot last January 6.
The win over Purisima was the Thai champion?s third successful title defense.
In his last title defense on June 24, Menayothin who is rated No. 5 by the WBC and No. 4 by the WBO won by a unanimous twelve round decision against former IBF world champion Florante Condes.
