Pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao once again demonstrated his class when he told us he was elated that former opponent Erik ?El Terrible? Morales? made history by becoming the first Mexican to win world titles in four separate weight divisions on Las Vegas, yesterday.

The 35 year old Morales scored an inspiring 10th round TKO victory over 21 year old Pablo Cesar Cano, a last minute replacement for Lucas Matthysse who pulled out after suffering an injury in training camp.

Morales gradually found his range and took command in the middle rounds after a feisty start by the young Cano.

With the win Morales grabbed the vacant WBC super lightweight title and improved his record to 52-7 with 36 knockouts. He battered the inexperienced Cano whose left eye was bloodied and almost shut allowing Morales to catch him repeatedly with solid right straights that forced his corner to stop the fight after the tenth round.

Morales is best known for two epic trilogies with bitter Mexican rival Marco Antonio Barrera and ?Fighter of the Decade? Pacquiao. In both instances Morales lost two of the three fights.

Pacquiao told the Inquirer Morales ?showed us a very good performance. Our trilogy is one of boxing?s greatest. Eric is truly one of the world?s best fighters. I hope he wins many more fights and retires as a champion.?
