Manhattan, New York - I arrived early at Chelsea Piers yesterday morning for the New York leg of the press tour for the November 12, 2011 fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. As I set up my camera and lap top while listening to Marquez's coach Nacho Beristain as he was being interviewed by Michael Marley of Examiner.com, I heard someone belt out a familiar tune in the back of the hall. "I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides..." echoed in the back room of the venue.

It was singer - song writer Dan Hill himself who penned and originally sung the hit song "Sometimes when we touch" rehearsing while everybody was busy getting ready for the press conference. You might wonder what a balladeer like Dan Hill is doing at a boxing press conference .Well; He revived the song late last year with WBO welterweight champ Manny Pacquiao who is in town yesterday as part of a four city press tour to promote his fight with Marquez. The song has been a certified hit for the duo that began working together after Hill watched Pacquiao performed the song in an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

It went as high as number 7 in no less than the Billboards charts on its U.S. secondary Adult Contemporary genre. "It was one of those delightful surprises" Hill admitted when I approached him and asked if he expected this collaboration with Pacquiao to be a hit song. "Manny is a great singer. He has wonderful sincerity. He has great tone and great pitch." Hill described of his singing partner. "And the most important is that you believed what he is saying. That's what pop music is all about. Believability," added the Grammy award winner.

Not bad for his first U.S. release, Pacquiao acknowledged that singing is not his forte in front of mostly boxing scribes that gathered around him for the press tour. "I will tell you now, I am not a good singer," he told the media which immediately broke into laughter. "I am not a good singer but I could sing and I love listening to songs because they energize me," Pacquiao added.

Energy that he shows not only when he steps in the ring on fight nights but also one that he carried when he sang the song with Dan Hill to kick off today's press conference to the delight of the media and fans who attended the event. Dan Hill also confessed that there are plans to make another album with Manny Pacquiao in the future. He will be helping as a song writer and as a singing coach to the multi belted champ. They plan to work on it after Pacquiao's November 12, 2011 fight against Marquez. "We are already going through the songs," he disclosed.

Dan Hill also talked of his Valentine's Day performance in Manila this year and professed his love for the Philippines. "I love the Philippines. I think it's one of the most wonderful countries in the world. I have never been to a country that loved music as much. So it's been my honor to work with Manny and also to be in the Philippines," he said.

The same love of music that the boxing champ shares with millions of his countrymen. "I love music," Pacquiao enthused. I love to sing both American and Filipino songs. It inspires me." confessed the champ. It seems that being an accomplished athlete, a TV show host, an actor and a congressman of his country is not enough for the 32 year old boxer. He also plans to further invade the world of music as well.
