VisionQwest CEO Michael Lodge.
The contract boxing idol Manny Pacquiao signed to acquire the services of Los Angeles-based VisionQwest accountancy firm has officially been terminated. At least as far as Team Pacquiao is concerned.
To VisionQwest president and CEO Michael Lodge, however, the issue is far from over as he intimated he intends to make true his earlier warning to seek legal remedy if he and his team fail to attain the purpose of coming to Manila. Lodge and his team of accountants and lawyers left in a huff after failing to seek an audience with the eight-division champion, who last week terminated the services of Lodge?s firm barely weeks after its consummation.
Lodge and company were hoping to meet with the Pacman in the hope of clarifying some issues in the unilateral withdrawal of authority to review all the past and future business and financial dealings the Sarangani Congressman gave the firm.
The last straw in Lodge?s efforts to save the deal came Tuesday evening when Pacquiao and his team, for the second straight day, failed to show up to meet its VisionQuest counterpart. ?Manny refused to meet with our firm,? Lodge said in an email message sent to this reporter Tuesday night. We will fly back to the US tomorrow and take legal action.?
?No more games to be played. No further comments will be made,? Lodge vowed in his message as he refused to answer further questions by this reporter.
Lodge and his team arrived Manila Saturday and since then had hoped to speak with Pacquiao personally or his representatives.
A meeting set lasts Monday did not materialize, but Lodge hoped to finally meet with the boxer Tuesday to no avail. It was in his failure to see Pacquiao Monday when Lodge hinted of going to court probably feeling he and his team?s visit to the country would prove futile. ?As you know, we are in the Philippines meeting with our counterpart in legal and accounting prior to our meeting with Manny,? Lodge said then.
Pacquiao?s hiring VisionQwest was borne by suspicion that the Filipino ring icon is being shortchanged in his purse in his previous fights as well as in payment for his commercials endorsements.
