It looks like VisionQwest Resource Group, whose contract with eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao had reportedly unilaterally been terminated, will have to resort to legal means for redress. This developed after the supposed meeting with the firm?s representatives and their Pacquiao counterparts scheduled yesterday fizzled out.

?We were not granted a meeting,? a visibly irked Michael Lodge, president and CEO of VisionQwest, who Pacquiao hired last month reportedly to check on what appeared discrepancies in the manner by which his business and financial affairs are being handled, told this reporter through email yesterday.

?We will wait for the end of today and if no meeting we will go back to the US. We are not going to waste anymore time,? Lodge, who arrived in Manila last weekend with his team, precisely to seek a meeting with the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight champion and pound-for-pound king, said.

Repeated calls made to Pacquiao and his team remained unanswered. The VisionQuest top honcho, whose company expertise varied from accountancy and healthcare, did not say what his firm?s next move will be the meeting is not pursued, but if interviews carried by various websites before he and his team proceeded to Manila are to be viewed, there is no recourse for them but to seek redress legally.

?As you know, we are in the Philippines meeting with our counterparts in legal and accounting prior to our meeting with Manny,? Lodge said. ?Our team will deal with this issue in a legal manner under the contract laws afforded to us as a business in the issue of interference in one?s business,? Lodge was quoted as telling Ben Thompson of FightHype.com, before coming to the country.

Upon receiving the letter of termination, Lodge went to the media proclaiming his suspicion that outside forces apparently referring to Pacquiao?s promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank, in connivance with the Filipino ring idol?s Canadian adviser Michael Koncz has got something to do with the Pacman?s decision to terminate the firm?s contract with VisionQwest. Koncz denied Lodge allegation though.

?We have forwarded the letter (of termination) to our legal counsel to respond accordingly. As you know, there has been a lot of pressure upon Manny from outside sources to remove us from his accounting team,? Lodge said.

?It appears now that this is a legal matter that needs to be dealt with in correct manner,? he added. We will wait for our attorneys review in the U.S. and in the Philippines,? he said.

Pacquiao hired the services of VisionQuest to ensure that all of his accounting, both personal and business, is in order amidst suspected short changing in his purse in his previous fights as well as commercial endorsements and confusion on his appearances in concerts, the last affecting his image even with the Filipino communities in the U.S.
