Filipino journeyman Jack ?The Assassin? Asis who fights out of New South Wales in Australia has stunned former world title challenger Nestor Rocha of the United States, scoring a 2nd round TKO in a fight card at the Gold Coast Convention Center in Queensland.

Asis who won the Australian light welterweight title with a 1st round knockout over Josh King who broke his right Fibula after being knocked down last May 21 had earlier scored an 8th round TKO over undefeated Brett William Smith (9-0-1, 5 KO?s) on February 12. The win over Rocha was Asis? third straight abbreviated victory after four straight defeats in Australia where he kept shuttling from one weight division to another which is not uncommon for Filipino fighters in Australia.

When Asis beat Rocharro he weighed in at 125 ? pounds when he overcame King he tipped the scales at 139 ? and when he clashed with Smith he weighed 136 ? pounds.

With the win the 30 year old Asis improved his record to 24-18-4 with 13 knockouts while the 28 year old Rocha fell to 23-3 with 8 knockouts.

Asisi saw action on the undercard where in the main event former two-time lightweight champion Michael Katsidis scored a 3rd round knockout over Michael Lozada in a junior welterweight battle.

Katsisis ended the fight with a barrage of shots to the body. The time was 2:18 of the third round. It was the first time the rugged Aussie fought in Australia in the last five years.
