CEBU, Philippines - An exciting new chapter of the friendly boxing rivalry between Mexico and the Philippines will light up the ring of the Waterfront Hotel and Casino on September 10 in the paradise island of Cebu in the Philippines.

Three brave Mexican warriors will battle Filipino top opponents in "Pinoy Pride VIII: Mexico vs. Philippines," confirmed in a press conference by promoter Michael Aldeguer, president of ALA Promotions.

In the main event, Mexican Francisco "Chiquita" Rosas of Oaxaca Mexico will dispute the World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight Inter-continental championship against the unbeaten Filipino world ranked in the four (4) boxing world organizations Milan Melindo (24-0, 8 KO's).

Veteran and ever dangerous Chiquita Rosas (22-8-2, 13 KOs), a former FECARBOX champion, has faced a high level of fighters and current world champions like Nicaraguan Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, Juan Carlos Reveco of Argentina and champion Edgar Sosa. "Chiquita" Rosas will travel to the heart of the Philippines armed with all his experience, courage and intention to defeat one of the most exciting new prospects in the flyweight division.

In the other corner will be young Milan Melindo, who has beaten former world champions Carlos Tamara, and Muhammad Rachman. The 23-year-old nicknamed "El Metodico" sees this war against "Chiquita" Rosas as a stepping stone his road to dispute the crown of the world against any of the current monarchs.

"None of my twenty-four victories are anything special to me. Everyone of my past opponents, including Carlos Tamara, are just regular fighters from a big pile. My big special battle will be when I beat a fighter like Giovanni Segura, or any of the world champions," said a very confident Melindo Milan.

In the co-feature, super lightweight 19-year old Filipino Jason "El Ni?o" Pagara (27-1, 16 KOs) will risk his coveted position in the WBO world rankings by facing hard hitting mexicano Rosbel "Lobito" Montoya (12-2-1, 11 KO's) of Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

Pagara won his last battle against another dangerous Mexican, Juan Carlos Gallegos, with who gave him a tough night last June 11 in Cebu.

"I learned a lot from my collision with the Mexican Gallegos. I have to go through hard training because Mexicans are good fighters," said "El Ni?o" Pagara during the press conference yesterday at the Cebu Grand Hotel.

Moreover, experienced Mexican warrior Gerson "El Nene" Guerrero (34-8, 26 KOs), who has faced fierce fighters as world champions Daniel Ponce de Leon and the talented Cristian Mijares, returns to the fight ring to face unbeaten prospect 19-year-old Bacolod's Genesis Servania (14-0, 5KO's).

Six more action combats will complete the exciting "Pinoy Pride VIII: Mexico vs Philippines," which will be staged at the luxurious Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City, Philippines

"Pinoy Pride VIII: Philippines vs. Mexico" is organized and promoted by ALA Promotions of pretigious boxing patron Don Antonio L. Aldeguer.

ABS CBN TV channel will broadcast the hot event throughout the Philippines.
