The NBA stars two-game stint against a PBA All Star Selection and the Smart Gilas national team preparing for the FIBA Asia Men?s Championship which will serve as the qualifier for the 2012 London Olympics, has been confirmed.

Talk N? Text coach Chot Reyes who has been involved in the negotiations with the group that is bringing the NBA stars over told the Daily Inquirer that the squad would be led by Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant who made waves in his recent visit to Manila and New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul.

Others in the roster named by Reyes are ?Rookie of the Year? Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings, Deandre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder shooting guard James Harden and this year?s No. 2 Draft Pick Derrick ?D.Will? Williams who will suit up for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Reyes said ?these are the six sure but we are still waiting on two more guys . Hopefully by tonight (Friday) or tomorrow it will be complete. But its on and we already have the clearance to put out the names of these six.?

The game against the PBA All Stars will be on July 23 and Smart Gilas on the 24th.

PBA Commissioner Chito Salud said he had promptly sent out a memorandum to the members of the pro league?s Board of Governors headed by chairman Rene Pardo ?recommending the PBA?s participation in this event.? Salud said he was ?strongly recommending that the owners and governors allow the players to participate.?

Salud said he had drawn up a 15-man lineup but that the names of the players will only be released at a scheduled press conference at the Araneta Coliseum before Friday?s first game in the on-going import reinforced conference.

Chairman Pardo was confident that the team owners would approve the participation of the PBA saying ?who wouldn?t want to play against the NBA stars. Even if we have to cancel a semi final game we?ll do it. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for our players.?
