Randy ?Razor? Petalcurin looked sharp in winning the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council light flyweight title with a 1st round knockout over an overmatched Thai challenger Yodchingchai Sithkonnapha while Fernando Lumacad looked just as good in winning the vacant flyweight crown with a 2nd round KO over Ricky Sabia at the Lagao Gym in General Santos City on Saturday.
The 19 year old Petalcurin who was ranked No. 4 by the ABC made short work of the unranked Thai who had a record of 2-1 as against the Filipino?s impressive record of 13-1 with 12 knockouts.
The only loss of Petalcurin was against undefeated Marlon Tapales when he suffered a 2nd round TKO on January 23, 2010.
Tapales who has moved up to super flyweight made his US debut last May 6 and won a majority decision over Alejandro Solorio at the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino.
In the main event Fernando ?Trigger? Lumacad won the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental flyweight title with a 2nd round knockout of Ricky ?Tyson? Sabia.
With the win the 25 year old Lumacad improved to 23=3=3 with 10 knockouts while Sabia dropped to 8-6-1 with 3 knockouts.
Lumacad was coming off a 1st round knockout of Donriel Marcos last March 29.
Once regarded as a promising prospect Lumacad faced Mexico?s Juan Jose ?Goofy? Montes in a clash for the WBC World Youth super flyweight title and lost by a unanimous shutout decision on November 28, 2009.
