Two intellectually-challenged Filipino athletes ? Anton Solis and Roxanne Ng ? resume their quest for glory and fame when they carry the country?s colors anew in the Special Olympics World Games set July 19-July 5 in Athens, Greece.

The Filipino duo, who own a combine 45 plus medal victories in bowling since they started competing in the Games featuring mentally-impaired athletes, pronounced themselves in tip-top shape to continue gifting the country the honors their normal counterparts continue to fail during Friday?s SCOOP Sa Kamayan weekly session at the Kamayan Restaurant-Padre Faura.

?Yes, we?re ready,? Silos, a heavy 5-foot-seven pintoppler, who said he stopped counting the medals he won after sweeping all three events he took part in two years ago in Shanghai, said during the forum, sponsored by Coca Cola, FILA and TV-5.

Silos, one of the only 12 and the lone Filipino to have been accorded the International Global Messenger title by the World Special Olympics, took the gold medal in the individual competition that year, the silver in the doubles disciplines and bronze in team event to raise his medal harvest to a total 20.

The IGM title, according to his coach Cristy Gacuma is bestowed to an individual who has a special talents to lead, communicate well, and, therefore, act as resource persons in clinics conducted by the international body.

?As an IGM, Anton will have a double job when he carries the country?s colors. Besides competing in his events, he is also tasked with participating in other non-competition activities,? Gacumna, who accompanied Sison and Ng in the session, explained.

Of the two, Ng, who barely stands five-feet, remembers how many gold medals she has so far brought home.

?Twenty five gold medals na po,? she told her audience in haltingly Tagalog because of her communication defect, adding she intends to win all the gold medals in the three events she is entered into like what she accomplished eight years ago in Dublin, Ireland.

That year, she crowned herself the champion in singles and doubles events besides anchoring the Philippine team to the team competition. She could only garner a gold (singles), a silver (doubles) and bronze (team) two years ago in Shanghai.

Learning the national team, which includes rookie Bryan Robles, still lacks pocket money,Talk ?N Text head coach Chot Reyes, who along with Tropang Texters Jimmy Alapag and Jayson Castro, also appeared as guests in the SCOOP session, pledged raise funds for the purpose.

Reyes invited the national bowling team to the Talk ?N Text practice session tomorrow at the Moro Lorenzo Gym at the Ateneo compound where, he said, he will ask the Texters to chip in amount they could afford.
