Heriberto Ruiz.

Dangerous Mexican fighter Heriberto Ruiz has vowed to inflict another beating on Rey ?Boom-Boom? Bautista in their eagerly awaited rematch in "Pinoy Pride 6" at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on June 11.

Confident that his unanimous decision over Bautista in their first clash was no fluke, Ruiz said that beating Bautista in their rematch will be more damaging. Ruiz said ?I will beat him in front of his countrymen.?

Ruiz inflicted Bautista's second career loss via a unanimous eight round decision in their first meeting on Nov. 22, 2008 in Las Vegas on the under card of the Ricky Hatton-Paulie Malignaggi bout.

Ruiz disclosed that he was planning nothing new adding ?My strategy will be similar with what I did when I beat him in Las Vegas.?

Strength and conditioning coach Pio Solon told the Daily Inquirer that Bautista was ?doing fine. I?ve never seen him move better. Aside from that he is punching even harder that he did when he stopped Alejandro Barrera in his last fight. We are excited but cautious as well. I hope he stays with the fight plan and keeps his composure.?

The 24 year old IBF International featherweight champion has a record of 30-2 with 23 knockouts while the veteran Ruiz is 33 years old and sports a fight record of 46-10-2 with 28 knockouts.

After the loss to Ruiz at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas doctors discovered a rotten bone in Bautista?s left wrist that necessitated surgery to replace the bone. Since then Bautista underwent rehab for almost one year, resumed boxing and racked up four wins in a row, two by knockout and two by TKO.

Bautista scored a 4th round TKO over Alejandro Barrera on August 28, 2010 and followed up with a 3rd round knockout in a rematch against the cousin of Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera on January 29, 2011.

Ruiz on the other hand lost by a 2nd round knockout to undefeated Rico Ramos (17-0, 9 KO?s) on November 8, 2010 but quickly recovered to register a 3rd round knockout over Jesus Velarde on December 10, 2010 and followed up with another 3rd round knockout over Jose Camacho on February 19, 2011.

Trainer Freddie Roach under whom Bautista trained at one time at the Wild Card Gym and Oscar De La Hoya both predicted that Bautista would someday become a world champion. However, he suffered a crushing 1st round knockout in a WBO title fight against the menacing Daniel Ponce De Leon on August 11, 2007 but De La Hoya was confident "Boom Boom" would recover and learn from that experience.

The Bautista-Ruiz grudge rematch at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Cebu will be telecast over ABS-CBN Channel 2 on June 12 with a replay on Studio 23 in its continuing partnership with ALA Promotions and its Pinoy Pride series.
