
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DON JOSE SULAIMAN

While there may be some critics who don?t look favorably at some of the decisions made by World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman who celebrates his 80th birthday today, most Filipino boxing people are grateful for his concern for Filipino boxers through the years and wish him all the very best.
A very close friend of WBC founding secretary general, the late eminent lawyer Rodrigo ?Rudy? Salud, Sulaiman always referred to Salud as his ?mentor from whom he learned so much.?
Salud, in return, often pointed out that Don Jose was a genuine friend of the Philippines and its fighters and was somenone who had a great respect especially for pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao and was proud of Pacquiao's achievemets as a multi-titled WBC champion.
Reports from Mexico said Sulaiman spent the day with his family and friends including his son, WBC executive secretary Mauricio Sulaiman and boxing people including champions past and present, promoters and managers.
We wish our esteemed friend Don Jose Sulaiman all the very best and God?s bountiful blessings.
