WBC minimum weight interim champion Juan ?Exterminador? Placios of Nicaragua has stunned WBA Interim world champion Samuel Gutierrez of Mexico with a unanimous twelve round decision in Puebla, Mexico before a crowd of some 5,000 fans.

All three judges scored the fight for the 30 year old Palacios.

Ignacio Robles and Tom Miller had Palacios the winner 115-113 while Sergio Caiz scored it by a wider 116-112 spread for the Nicaraguan.

With the win Palacios improves to 28-3 with 21 knockouts while Gutierrez drops to 28-6-2 with 19 knockouts.

Palacios won the WBC Interim title with a 10th round TKO over Omar Soto on August 2, 2008. He then defeated Teruo Misawa of Japan in his first defense of the interim title scoring a 7th round TKO on November 7, 2008.

Then, in another defense of the so-called interim title Palaciois scored a 10th round TKO over Erik Ramirez on June 13, 2009.

Ramirez was the same fighter who was dropped by WBO minimum weight champion Donnie Nietes in rounds 1, 5, 9 and 12 in a title fight in Ramirez? hometown of Oaxaca, Mexico with Nietes scoring a comfortable decision on February 28, 2009.

Nietes has relinquished his title and is set to face champion Ramon Hirales Garcia in a battle for the WBO light flyweight title which is tentatively scheduled for July 30.

In a post fight interview Palacios said ?I knew I could win in Mexico. Sammyis a great champion but my hunger and my physical condition made the difference.?
