Former WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr plans to resume training after taking a one month rest.

The likeable son of one of Pureto Rico?s greatest world champions Wilfredo Vazquez Sr plans to return to the ring in a ten round bout against a still undetermined opponent before going after a a possible world title fight next year.

His father who is also his trainer isn?t ruling out a rematch with Merxico?s Jorge ?Travieso? Arce who won the title in an action-packed fight on the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley showdown . The Arce-Vazquez Jr fight saved the day for the sell-out crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena who booed Mosley for refusing to engage Pacquiao after being knocked down in the third round.

Arce who was dropped in round four, won by a 12th round TKO when referee Joe Cortez called a halt with Vazquez Jr pinned on the ropes. The time was 0:55. At the time of the stoppage two judged Burt Clements and Gary Merritt had the fight even at 104-104 while the third judge Robert Hoyle had Arce leading 107-102.

The 31 year old Arce, a typical Mexican warrior in the ring improved his record to 57-6-2 with 44 knockouts while the 26 year old Vazquez Jr who won the vacant title in a battle with the Philippines Marvin Sonsona on February 27, 2010 suffered his first defeat and dropped to 20-1-1 with 17 knockouts.
