MGM GRAND, LAS VEGAS -- Comebacking former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (37-2-0 32KO) of Youngstown, Ohio won by majority decision over erstwhile undefeated Alfonso Lopez (21-1-0 16KO) of Corpus Christi, Texas via majority decision. The judges scores were 98-92, 97-91 for Pavlik while the 3rd judge had it a draw at 95-95.
Undefeated junior welterweight Mike Alvarado (30-0-0 22KO) of Denver, Colorado won via 3rd round stoppage over Ray Nath (25-2-0 21KO) of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Nath quit after three rounds of sustained punishment Alvarado.
