Former WBC junior flyweight champion Edgar Sosa who lost his title by somewhat controversial 2nd round TKO to the Philippines Rodel Mayol on November 21, 2009 has successfully defended his WBC International flyweight title with an 8th round TKO over Japan?s Kenichi Horikawa in Mexico City on Sunday morning, Manila Time.

It was a good, competitive fight but the veteran Sosa who now has a record of 42-6 with 25 knockouts proved too strong for Horikawa who fell to 20-10-1 with 4 knockouts.. Both fighters are 31 years old.

The Mexican who has moved up in weight after losing his world title to Mayol will challenge 33 year old Thai veteran Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (80-3-1, 44 KO?s) for the 112 pound title.

In a big upset Robinson Castellanos scored a stunning 8th round TKO over highly fancied Alberto ?Kichis? Garcia to win the WBC silver featherweight belt.

With the win th 28 year old Castellanos improves to 11-9, 7 knockouts while Garza drops to 23-5-1 with 18 knockouts.

In another bout the WBC No. 1 featherweight contender, 27 year old Giovanni Caro (22-8-4, 16 KO?s) stopped 24 year old Genaro Camargo (35-10, 29 KO?s) in the third round.

Both Caro and Camargo had previously lost to Filipino super bantamweights. Caro lost by an 8th round knockout to world title challenger Bernabe Concepcion on September 25, 2008 while Camargo was knocked out in the 2nd round by Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista who won the WBC Intercontinental super bantamweight crown on April 6, 2008.
