PACQUIAO SPARRING PARTNER TAPIA WINS AGAIN

One time Manny Pacquiao sparring partner Glen Tapia has continued his winning streak with a lopsided six round decision over Eberto Miranda at the Ballroom of the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, Sunday.

Tapia, fighting as a super welterweight improved his unbeaten record to 9-0 with six knockouts but although he dropped Medina in the third round he couldn?t take him out.

All three judges had Tapia a comfortable winner. Debra Barnes scored it 59-54 for Tapia while John McKale had him the winner 60-52 and Donald Givens 60-63.

The likeable youngster impressed fans with his fighting style and his friendly disposition while training alongside Michael Medina and sparring with pound-for-pound king Pacquiao as the eight division champion prepared for his fight against Miguel Cotto last November 13 in Las Vegas.

Tapia who was handpicked by trainer Freddie Roach often gave Pacquiao a good workout at his training camp in Baguio City .

The 21 year old Tapia was coming off a 6th round unanimous decision win over Quinton Whitaker last October 30 in a fight where all three judges turned in identical 59-55 scorecards for Tapia.

With the loss Medina who was born in Ecuador but like Tapia also fights out of New Jersey dropped to 5-6 with one knockout to his name.
