MIKEY GARCIA TKO 10 MATT REMILLARD

Atlantic City, NJ - Mikey Garcia pummeled Matt Remillard all night knocking the New Jersey native twice in the 9th round and thrice in the 10th forcing Remillard's corner to stop the fight after the said round. The Oxnard California native was the busier boxer throwing 943 punches against Remillard's 514. He also connected 266 of those punches to Remillard's 162. The win gave Garcia the NABF NABO Featherweight title with the win and improved his unbeaten record to 25-0. Remillard who was emotional in his defeat suffered his first loss in 24 fights.He was consoled by his corner and Giants running back Brandon Jacobs who climbed in the ring to support the beaten fighter. It was the night's first knockout which was also shown on HBO's Boxing After Dark series preluding another featherweight battle in Yuriorkis Gamboa versus Jorge Solis.The spectacular win put Garcia's name in consideration for fights in the featherweight division where he might face the winner of the night's main event. He was joined in his corner by trainer and brother Robert Garcia who trains Nonito Donaire, Brandon Rios and Antonio Margarito.
