FORMER World Boxing Council International superbantamweight champion Balweg ?Davao Hitman? Bangoyan showed back his old fiery form by stopping Eric ?Anthony? Macas in their scheduled 10-rounder last Saturday night at the refurbished Almendras gym.

The 23-year old Balweg of the Zander Khan Stable hurt Macas on the mouth with his left-right combinations to pummel to submission the RP No. 9 junior lightweight contender from Lanao in 1:33 of the seventh round.

Macas? head hit the ropes before lying down the canvas after absorbing the two solid jabs. Referee Ronnie Mondejar immediately stopped the fight and boxing physician Dr. Edgar Tan quickly climbed up the ring to check the fallen boxer from the Bong Yap Stable.

?It was a great fight and definitely Balweg is going to Australia to campaign for the world title,? said Australian matchmaker Ron Doran, who promised to bring Balweg to Australia next month or early next year.

Australia?s top boxing promoter Peter Maniatis is Doran?s partner. ?Naningkamot dyud ko na makadaug para ma-convice nako sila na puede pa ko muaway ug world title,? said Balweg, who improved his ring record to 15 wins with five knockouts, no draw and two losses. Macas, 25, dropped to 13-10 with six KOs.

?Masaya kami na convincing ang panalo ni Balweg,? said boxing manager and promoter Zander Khan, former municipal mayor of Jose Abad Santos.

Balweg dominated Macas since the start of the fight co-promoted by the Peter Maniatis, ZK International and Winer Promotion. Balweg showed more ring experience and was already more careful unlike in his past fights wherein he would immediately start his attack with lesser defense.

This time, Balweg used his left-right jabs very timely that kept Macas at the distance throughout the fight.

Balweg, now ranked RP no. 9 junior lightweight contender, was also awarded a golden trophy by Engr. Geronimo Palermo.

In the main supporting bout, Freddie Martinez of Butuan city landed two solid punches on the face of Davao?s Hermie Benito en route to a technical knockout in 1:57 of the third round.
Martineznow has nine wins with four KO, three losses and one draw, while Benito suffered his third setback against four wins with two KOs.

In the other fights, Nino ?Tyson? Fabila of Tony Dacer Stable-Davao outclassed Arnel Taganas of Bernard Yu-Butuan; Don ?King? Tampos of TD Stable beat Roel Garcia of BY Stable; Romeo Dimate Jr. of BY Stable clobbered Jayson Cinco of ZK Stable; JR Edurot TKO?d Jojo Rodrigo in 52 seconds of the second round.
