Veteran boxing commentator Ronnie Nathanielsz has sent his apologies for the mistake he committed on calling the cut on Alejandro 'Zorrita' Barrera as a 'clear headbutt'. Upon further review of what happened, it was found out that the cut was caused by a legitimate punch. Referee Tony Pesons stopped the contest upon the recommendation of ringside physician Dr Jose Unabia allowing Bautista to run away with a technical decision victory in the 4th round.

Below is Nathanielsz's full statement:

Dear Dong:

We made a mistake in thinking that the clear head-butt by Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista in round four of his fight against Alejandro ?Zorrito? Barrera caused the cut that forced the stoppage of an exciting bout.

Obviously the cut was opened up by a legitimate punch because we later learned from out TV director that the cut was caused by a punch and it was on the opposite side of the head-butt. But the coverage had ended by then and it was too late to correct it.

Even Barrera?s cornermen believed the cut was caused by a head-butt and Bautista apologized for it. We were wrong and we personally regret the mistake in fairness to Bautista and referee Tony Pesons.

Please run this in your widely read site because we wish to apologize for the wrong perception in fairness to all concerned.
