CEBU CITY ? Former IBF minimumweight champion Florante Condes dominated Indonesian Sofyan Effindi scoring a knockdown in the 6th round en route to a shutout victory at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino here tonight. All three judges scored the bout 80-71 for the Romblon native Condes.

Displaying the poise of a former world champion and working on a beautiful jab and pinpoint combinations, Condes is now on the right track for another shot at the title.

During the opening rouind, Effindi tags Condes with a right left in the head but Condes returned the favor with a body attack moments later that momentarily backed Effedi to the ropes. Lead lefts by Condes hit the mark toward the end of the round.

In the ensuing rounds Condes continue to dominate punishing Effindi with one-two combinations behind a beautiful jab and and measured fighting strategy refusing to mixed up with the outclassed Indonesian.

In round 6, Condes hit Effindi with perfectly timed uppercut to the jaw that sent Effindi to the canvas for the fight's only knockdown but the Indonesian beat the count. In the ensuing action, Condes hit Effindi with a left right but the third punch to the body hit south of Effindi's waistline that enabled Effindi some respite.

Condes coasted in the last two rounds for a shutout win.
