Vargas is coming off a 1st round TKO win over Ricardo Armenta in a scheduled eight round bout last July 2Febriary 13. However, Armenta had lost six of his seven previous bouts before facing Vargas.

Vargas?s clash with Colombia?s 31 year old Arango who fell to 30-9-3 with 24 knockouts follows Arango's1st round TKO loss to Ramon Garcia Hirales in a WBC International light flyweight title fight on February 13, 2010. However, the game Mexican came back with an eight round decision over Alfonso De La Hoz on April 15, 2010.

Vargas continues to hope for a world title shot and a story on boxingscene.com quoted Vargas as saying his fight against Arango "is complicated, but I am prepared to for whatever, because this will prepare me for the world title at flyweight,"
