The cousin of Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera has fired up the continuing rivalry between the Philippines and Mexico by claiming ?Filipino fighters are very good, but Mexicans are better.?

Former WBC Continental Americas Featherweight Champion and NABA Super-Bantamweight title holder Alejandro Barrera who battles a resurgent Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista in the blockbuster Philippines vs The World fight card at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City on August 28 added that he will demonstrate in the ring how ?tough and fearless? Mexican fighters are.

In an exclusive interview with ALA Promotions Public Relations man Chad Ca?ares via the Internet, Alejandro Barrera who is the cousin of the former three-time world champion said ?He (Marco) is a cousin and good friend. I have been his sparring partner before.?

The fight card is being promoted by the famed ALA Promotions in cooperation with the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN.
Barrera said his preparation for the clash with former world title challenger Bautista has been ?very good and I am very motivated. It is a good opportunity for me.?

He said he knows that Bautista is ?fast and strong? but that doesn?t bother him. At the same time Barrera confidently predicted ?We will win for sure. If I can knock him out ? I will but I am prepared to fight him to the limit even if the fight will go the distance.?

Told by Canares that Bautista had promised to knock him out, Barrera replied ?He can say what he wants but let him demonstrate that in the ring.?
