IT'S TIME FOR PASTRANA TO QUIT

Based on the latest battering he suffered it's obviously time for former world champion Mauricio Pastrana to seriously consider quitting boxing .

Dr. Ed de la Vega reporting on the Nokia Fight Night card in Los Angeles promoted by Golden Boy said that in the main event which was a junior lightweight bout between former Olympian Gary Russell Jr (11-0-8 KO?s) of Maryland and veteran journeyman Pastrana ( 35-15-2, 23 KO?s) from Colombia, it took Russell all of 106 seconds to end the fight.

It was Pastrana?s fifth straight defeat.

On March 13, 2010 Pastrana was knocked out cold by Philippine bantamweight champion Eden Sonsona and had to be carried out on a stretcher. Ringside reports from Dallas, Texas compared the Sonsona knockout to Manny Pacquiao?s devastating 2nd round knockout of Ricky ?The Hitman? Hatton when he separated Hatton from his senses with one punch.

Pastrana also lost by an 8th round disqualification to Mike Oliver last June 26.

It also appears that Pastrana moves up and down in weight to take fights which could also be dangerous.
