Former WBO super flyweight champion ?Marvelous? Marvin Sonsona who was unheard from after his 4th round knockout loss to WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr on February 27, 2010 in Puerto Rico has quietly returned to the gym of his manager Dr. Rajan Yraola and begun light training.

Sonsona who won the WBO super flyweight title with an impressive twelve round decision over Jose Carita Lopez at the Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada on September 4, 2009 but lost the crown when he failed to make the weight for his first title defense against Alejandro Hernandez at the same venue, was at the Brian Viloria ? Omar Soto fight on Saturday along with longtime trainer Jun Agrabio and Dr. Yraola.

In an exclusive interview with insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports, Sonsona who turns 20 on July 25 said he had started light training for the past week following his return to Manila from his hometown of General Santos City and indicated he is looking forward to resuming his career.

Sonsona said just like in the past before he began hard training he weighed around 130 pounds, but planned to ?check on what would be the best weight for me, 118 or 122.?

The former super flyweight champion said while he appeared to be rushed prematurely into a world title fight against Vazquez at super bantamweight he felt he could make it but that Vazquez beat him to the punch and that?s what caused him to lose by a knockout.

Sonsona said he would ?try to make it at 118 but if I cannot make it I will move up and fight at 122.?

The young and promising fighter said that just like pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao he also plays basketball after light training at the gym and sometimes plays as many as three or four games.

Sonsona promised he would do everything he can to once again become a world champion adding ?I don?t know whether I will make it, but I will really try hard.?

At the same time Sonsona said he has no more problems and is focused on boxing. Although Sonsona admitted that even though the money he received from his title fights was ?small? he was satisfied that he was ?was able to help my family.?

Sonsona thanked Filipino fight fans who had supported him and committed ?I will be back and do everything and won?t let you down.?
