BUSTAMANTE ROUTS ORTMANN 11-2

Playing some of his finest pool in months, pool legend Francisco ?Django? Bustamante routed German ace Oliver Ortmann 11-2 in the round of 32 at the World Pool Championship to jumpstart the campaign of no less than 16 Filipinos who are chasing total prize money of $250,000 in Doha, Qatar.

Bustamante?s longtime friend partner Efren ?Bata? Reyes who will team up once again with Bustamante to defend their World Cup of Pool title which will be staged once again in Manila by Solar Sports in September, will face American veteran Johnny Archer in what may well be a classic duel between of the all-time greats.

Reyes recently won the highly competitive Spanish Open.

Reyes who lost his opening match to China?s Haitao Liu came back to whip Holger Gries of Germany 9-7 before scoring a 9-0 shutout against Ihab Hassan.

Other Filipinos still in contention are Jeffrey De Luna who beat Chang Jun Lin 11-9, Francisco Felicilda who beat Bashar Hussain 11-7,Raymund Faron who overcame Arten Koshovoj 11-8 and Marlon Manalo who bested Lu Hui Chan 11-8 to move into the round of 16.

Others who will see action later today will be US Open champion Lee Van Corteza, Antonio ?Ga Ga? Gabica, Antonio ?Nikoy?Lining, Oliver Medenilla, Israel Rota, World Pool Masters champion Dennis Orcollo, Venancio Tanio, Allen Cuartero and 2006 World Pool champion Ronnie Alcano.

The only Filipino to lose was Joven Alba who represented the United Arab Emirates in the tournament. He lost to Shane Van Boening 7-11.
