EX-HEAVYWEIGHT CHALLENGER GOLOTA PREDICTS PACQUIAO WILL BE TOO MUCH FOR MAYWEATHER

Former heavyweight challenger Andrew Golota of Poland predicts that should a megabuck showdown between pound-for-pound king and ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao and undefeated Floyd Mayweather push through, Pacquiao will be too much for Mayweather.

Scoop Malinowski of Boxing Insider.com quotes Golota as predicting that Pacquiao?s speed, activity level and power will be too much for Mayweather at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds pointing out that Pacquiao has carried the weight better than Mayweather since moving up through seven weight divisions.

In fact Golota feels Mayweather will be overwhelmed by Pacquiao just as Miguel Cotto was in his 12th round TKO in their WBO welterweight title fight last November.

Golota was quoted by Malinowski as saying ?Pacquiao is too much for him. Too much. He beats him easy. Easy. Easy. Mayweather was a great fighter when he was a super featherweight but he?s too small now. Pacquiao is so fast. He throws so many punches. Cotto is fast but Pacquiao made him look slow. Pacquiao is something else.?

The 41 year old Golota who has a record of 41-8-1 with 33 knockouts is best remembered for rough and dirty heavyweight battles with then champion Riddick ?Big Daddy? Bowe in 1996.

Golota, the undefeated heavyweight contender faced Bowe at New York?s famed Madison Square Garden on July 11, 1996 where Golota who was ahead on points was disqualified in the seventh round after Bowe was dropped from repeated low blows. The fight ended in a riot in which Golota was hit by a member of Bowe?s entourage with a two-way radio which required 11 stitches while Golota?s trainer Lou Duva who had a heart condition had to be rushed to hospital after he was pushed around in the melee.

The rematch on December 14, 1996 drew a lot of interest and after Golota dropped Bowe in round two and was himself dropped, Golota was again disqualified this time in the 9th round for repeated low blows although he was once again leading on points. While there was no riot at the Convention Center in Atlantic City, Golota earned the nickname ?Foul Pole.?

Golota was then knocked out by champion Lennox Lewis in the 1st round on October 4, 1997 at Cesars Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City after which he won six fights in a row before losing by a 10th round TKO to Michael Grant in a WBC heavyweight title eliminator. In his last fight on October 24, 2009 Golota lost by a 5th round TKO to Tomasz Adamek in a battle for the vacant IBF International title.
