Drian Francisco.

WBA super flyweight mandatory challenger Drian ?Gintong Kamao./ Golden Fist? has sought the help of WBA president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza in making sure that the undefeated Filipino gets a crack at the super flyweight title currently held by Mexico?s Hugo

?El Inreible? Cazares.

Elmer Anuran said that Cazares? manager Nacho Huizar apparently believes that his fighter has nine months before he is forced to defend his title which Anuran pointed out is nit the case. Besides, Anuran revealed that Huizar ?wants some options for a rematch if ever Cazares loses the title.?

The manager of Francisco branded the demands of Huizar as ?not viable, reasonable or obligatory for Drian in any way because he holds the mandatory position. It is completely out of the question.?

Anuran informed Insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports that he had explained the situation to the top official of the WBA who said he would send a letter to Huizar ?obligating Cazares to fight Drian (Francisco)? following his title defense against Everado Morales on July 4.

He said that under WBA rules on championships, ?in its sole discrection the Championship Committee may reduce, extend or otherwise modfy the priods f or mandatory defenses for good cause, either in response to a request for a Special Permit, or on its own initiative.?

We were informed that the WBA does not want to put a date on a Cazares-Francisco title fight but that it won?t give Cazares permission to defend his title should he beat Morales, and defend it against any other opponent.

The youthful manager of Francisco said he plans to give Huizar ?a follow-up call just to keep him thinking about the fight, indicating that in this way the manager of Cazares will know he will ?need either to accept our offer or give Francisco a good one to fight outside the Philippines.?

Anuran told us that if they come to terms to stage the title fight in Manila the target date would be the last week of September or the first week of October. However he said they are also willing to fight in the US since they heard that Huizar is considering staging the fight in the US or Mexico.

Anuran made it clear that Mexico ?will only be acceptable if they will give us a very good offer? that would match what the Cazares handlers are demanding should Cazares come to the Philippines to defend his title.

Significantly, the 32 year old Cazares will defend his title on July 4 against 33 year old Morales who has a record of 34-14-2 with 23 knockouts but lost by a 9th round TKO to Tomas Rojas in a battle for the interim title on July 18, 2009 and although he went on to win his next two fights they were against virtual non entities.

Morales who is ranked No. 13 by the WBA won by a 2nd round KO over Ramon Pena on January 16 this year. According to boxrec.com, Pena had a record of six defeats and no wins and had lost 1 by KO and 5 by TKO. In his latest fight Morales won the vacant North American Boxing Association title with a ten round decision over Elvis Garcia whose record was an unimpressive 9-6-3 with 5 knockouts.
