Philippine bantamweight champion Eden Sonsona?s opponent for his scheduled ten round bout on the Juan Manuel ?Juanma? Lopez ? Bernabe Concepcion WBO featherweight title fight undercard in Puerto Rico on July 10 has been replaced.

Fresh from a series of impressive wins, two in the US and one here at home Sonsona was scheduled to face a tough opponent in veteran super bantamweight Genaro Garcia but Garcia has now been replaced by an equally dangerous opponent in Jonathan Oquendo of Puerto Rico.

ABS-CBN vice president for Sports Peter Musngi told us he had been informed by Top Rank president Todd DuBoef that Garcia had been replaced by the 26 year old Oquendo who has a record of 11 knockouts in 18 wins with just 2 defeats.

The fight on the Pinoy Power/Latin Fury card of Top Rank promoter Bob Arum will be telecast on a slightly delayed basis by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN.

Oquendo won the WBO Latino super bantamweight interim title with a unanimous decision over Jose Angel Beranza on February 27, 2010 in a rematch where Oquendo used his powerful left hook, solid body shots and a variety of combinations to beat Beranza handily.

Oquendo also scored an impressive 2nd round TKO over Juan Jose Beltran on October 14, 2009 but lost by a 3rd round TKO to reigning WBO featherweight champion ?Juanma? Lopez in a mismatch in a Latino super bantamweight title fight on February 23, 2008.

Orquendo has an eight round unanimous decision over former US Olympic Games reserve Torrence Daniels on May 6, 2006. Daniels is the same fighter who lost by a 2nd round TKO to Bernabe Concepcion on April 26, 2008.

Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz earlier informed us that if Sonsona won over Garcia he would be in line for a title shot against WBA super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr who stopped Sonsona?s cousin ?Marvelous? Marvin Sonsona in four rounds after Sosona ? the former WBO super flyweight champion who lost his title on the scales ? moved up two divisions to fight the strong, solidly built Vazquez Jr.

Respected boxing analyst Moy Lainez who watches Sonsona work out at the Rod Nazario Gym in Sucat, Paranaque under the watchful eye of his manager Rommel Nazario believes Eden Sonsona is a natural bantamweight and too small to take on Vazquez, the super bantamweight champion.
