Marvin Sonsona and Alejandro "Payasito" Hernandez met face to face today for the first time. Both boxers were cautious but showed mutual respect for one another.
Marvin thanked all the boxing fans especially the Filipinos for their support. Coach Nonito Donaire Sr. commented that Marvin is 110% prepared and is looking forward to Satruday night.
Alejandro Hernandez thanked all the Mexican fans here and in Mexico for their support. He knows there are a lot of Mexicans in Canada that will cheer for him. He is completely ready and expects Marvin to be a tough opponent. He stated that he and Marvin are hungry fighters but his experience make the difference against the young champion. The challenger saw Marvin’s last fight against Jose Lopez and said that he will not be making the same mistakes as Lopez did who got himself in a desperate situation. Alejandro is predicting that this fight will go twelve rounds and will go to a decision in his favor, unless Marvin makes a mistake. Should Marvin be careless enough, the challenger commented that he will capitalize go for a knockout.
Promoter Sammi Gello-Ani addressed the media and stated that Canada is an excellent location to have this fight because there are so many Filipinos here that supports Marvin.
He hopes that Ciso Morales fighting in an undercard will also get the same support from those that cheer for Marvin. He gave all the accolades to Manny Pacquiao’s success and influence which is paving the way for other Filipino boxers to emerge at the international level. He also expressed his thanks and appreciation for the Filipino and Canadian boxing fans alike.
