PACQUIAO WATCH: It?s the meat, stupid

MY neighbor in www.philboxing.com and www.mannypacquiao.ph went ballistic in his latest article, spewing acerbic humor unto his self while spitting his venomous attacks against this writer.

I won?t pick up a fight with him. I was told he stands well over six feet and weighs more than most heavyweight boxers that even the man who whom he called Jackal made peace with him.

My, my, Mike ? if you will allow me to call you by your first name.

I never thought small of Manny.

In fact, I was one of the few who defended his right to run for public office and lashed back at those who belittled his little or lack of education as the reason why people should not vote from him.

In the same manner that I am also one of the few who told him he will lose against the well-oiled machinery of his former political rival Darlene Magnolia Antonino-Custodio.

To tell you the truth, back in 2007, Manny got more votes in several straw polls from the ranks of professionals in this city (yes, I am from General Santos) ? especially among doctors ? when he first ran for Congress more than two years ago.

I may not be friends with Manny but I have healthy respect of him and I will defend his right to vote and be voted upon.

Come on, Mike. Let?s get straight about it.

You also made me laugh when you mentioned Manny alongside with Nelson Mandela.

It tickled me pink when my article let out the best in you.

But please, don?t let yourself fall into the company of the emperor?s minions who lavished at his invisible dress while parading around his dominion in underwear.

You asked me if I ?uncovered something new in politics, something which reeks of corruption and other sharp practices.?

You ribbed me to ?wake up and smell the coffee.?

Tell you, mate.

My coffee here has never been so strong and aromatic it keeps me awake until I again throw the sack at night.

You are right, Mike, you are among the better boxing scribes there is today.

Sure, I know you wrote that piece on the Nobel Peace Prize with good intention. Only it was off tangent if not downright ridiculous.

I harbor no intellectual pretensions. I only write on gut feel and comprehension.

I do not wish to please everybody every time. I write what I deem will stand the test of times.

I don?t envy one?s success. How could you argue with one?

I don?t imagine. I observe.

I may be dimwit but I am not stupid.

Got my meat, man?
