MAASIM, Sarangani (May 28) ? Rising boxing sensation Alvin Bais stunned veteran Dondon Jemenia of General Santos City by knocking him down twice in the first round en route to a unanimous decision win in the main event of the Sarangani Bay Festival Boxing Showdown.

Bais pummeled the ducking Jememia with right straights to score the first knockdown midway through the opening canto.

He again dropped Jemenia with a left uppercut that was followed by another right.

In the second round, the super-flyweight boxing prospect punched a cut on the right eyebrow of Jemenia as Bais continued to dominate his older more experienced opponent in the early going.

Jemenea tried to rally in the closing rounds but he fell short.

With the win, Bais improved his ring record to eight wins with no losses. Three of his victories came via stoppage.

Bais is a member of Maasim mayor Jojo Lopez?s Maasim Boxing Stable.

In other exciting bouts, comebacking Pol Apolinario registered his second stoppage win in as many fights by knocking out Ervin Jamlan of Pagadian City in the fifth round.

Apolinario hit Jamlan with a powerful right straight who went down on his knees and was counted out by the referee.

Sensational light flyweight hopeful Weljan Ugbaniel likewise stopped Rey Morano of Cagayan de Oro to complete a sweep of Mayor Lopez?s boxers who saw action in the event.

Apolinario and Ugbaniel are stablemates of Bais who also counts on Richie Mepranum as boxing wards of the mayor.

In the other bouts Donie Mabao of Pagadian City kayoed Wenie Bartiquil in the second round while Rey las Pi?as of JC Mananquil Stable also stopped Nathan Barcelona in the second round.

His tablemates Randy Petalcurin and Janjan Gello-ani also won via stoppage over Rolando Palac of Cagayan de Oro and Jomar Sososco of Butuan City, respectively.
