Living up to his reputation as a kind and generous person Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will give away free Norbest Tom Turkeys to the first 500 families who show up on Sunday, November 23 starting at noon, outside the Community Center in Lake Street Park, Los Angeles in historic Filipino town.

The venue is located at No. 227 North Lake Street. The turkeys which are a Thanksgiving gift from Pacquiao is regarded as his way of thanking loyal fans who have supported him through the years especially for the biggest fight of his life against Oscar De La Hoya at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December 6.

In announcing the turkey giveaways Pacquiao said ?I have a lot to be thankful for and I can?t think of a better way to express my appreciation to my American-based fans who have embraced me, than by sharing my good fortune with them.?

Every December 17 Pacquiao celebrates his birthday in his hometown of General Santos City in the Philippines where thousands of poor people line up for hours to receive gift bags and money from Pacquiao.

It's an annual routine that has endeared him to the people of his hometown. Pacquiao is also known for helping the poor in other parts of Mindanao and even visits communities in areas known for illegal logging to educate them on the need to stop their illegal activities and to protect our forests and the environment. Pacquiao heads a Task Force against illegal logging and was appointed by his longtime friend and staunch supporter, Secretary Lito Atienza, the former Mayor of Manila.
