WBO No. 1 rated super bantamweight Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista (26-1, 19 KO's) and WBO Oriental bantamweight champion Michael Domingo (37-14-2, 16 KO's) are doing well in their training at the Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas and no less than renowned trainer Roger Mayweather has congratulated both young Filipino fighters.

Bautists battles tough Mexico's FECOMBOX champion Heriberto Ruiz (37-6-2, 22 KO's) on the Paul Malinaggi- Ricky ?Hitman? Hatton undercard on November 23 (Manila Time) while Domingo fights world-rated Nestor Rocha in a bantamweight clash in Cabazon , California one day earlier.

Longtime Cebu resident and trainer Tony Martin who runs a gym in Las Vegas reported that the past week both Bautista and Domingo sparred a total of 20 rounds each with former US Olympic team alternate Torrence Daniels and tough Cornelius Lock. They sparred on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Martin said both he and trainer Edito ?Ala?Villamor were ?a bit concerned that we might have lost two good sparring partners? after Bautista and Domingo applied pressure on the sparring partners ?with sharp, heavy punching? but to their relief Daniels and Lock returned, showing they had the heart of fighters.

Martin said that after last Saturday?s sparring session Mayweather, the uncle of undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr told Martin that " Both the boys were looking very sharp, and that it was one hell of a sparring session and congratulated the boys, which they deserved.?

He said Bautista whose only blemish in an otherwise perfect record was a first round stoppage in a WBO super bantamweight title fight against the menacing-looking Daniel Ponce De Leon on August 11 last year, had clearly learned his lessons from that mis-adventure. Martin said he was ?seeing a more improved fighter in so far as controlling the tempo of his offense, and the fact that he is now showing a better head and upper body movement and defense. Edito and myself are pushing him every day to utilize his jab much more, and its starting to happen.?
He said they were looking at ?a much better all round improved fighter? compared to the Bautista he saw last year but added that Boom Boom ?still wants to destroy anyone who gets in the ring with him.?

Martin was full of praise for Domingo saying ? this boy is so relaxed in and outside of the ring with a humble disposition. For me he has it all .. attitude, ability, timing and punching power, and I know, so do the sparring partners and Roger Mayweather. Need I say more.?

He said that Philippine light welterweight champion Mark Jason Millegan arrived in Vegas last Thursday and has settled in and with the approval of Villamor, Martin will begin conditioning Melligen this week. Martin noted that ?overall the boys are in great spirits. And its a pleasure to work with them.?
