Marco Antonio Barrera, the Mexican legend who was beaten twice by Filipinio ring idol Manny Pacquiao, is to fight in China in a card promoted by Don King at the Sichuan Gymnasium in Chengdu on November 7.
The 34 year old Barrera who has a record of 63-6 with 42 knockouts is scheduled to fight Sammy Ventura whose last fight was on September 7, 2007 in which he suffered a second round TKO at the hands of Wes Ferguson.
In his previous fight on July 11, Ventura lost by a fourth round TKO to undefeated Anthony Salcido (12-0).
Ventura has an unimpressive record of 25-19 with 20 knockouts but 16 of his 19 losses were stoppages.
Barrera?s last fight was against Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao in a rematch which Pacquiao won by a lopsided twelve round decision. In their first meeting in November 2003 in San Antonio, Texas, Pacquiao annihilated Barrera in eleven rounds.
In his prime Barrera was one of the greatest winning two of his three fights against another Mexican legend Erik ?El Terrible? Morales in an epic trilogy and also scoring a spectacular victories over Prince Naseem Hamed, Johnny Tapia and Paulie Ayala.
