Well known international promoter Branco Milenkovic has announced a big boxing extravaganza featuring three IBF title eliminators at the Carousel Casino near Pretoria , South Africa on August 29.
Milenkovic has dubbed the fight card Boxing World Cup although there?s no word of any objections so far from Golden Boy Promotions which has a lock on the World Cup title having already staged two such match-ups between Mexico and Thailand and Mexico and the Philippines which took place in August last year in Sacramento.
Nevertheless, the card is a one with lots of potential.
Milenkovic informed www.insidesports.ph, Viva Sports and Manila Standard Today that would be the first in the African continent of such magnitude and that the card will be headed by former IBF super featherweight champion Malcolm Klassen (22-4-2, 13 KO?s) battling former world champion Manuel ?Mantecas? Medina (67-15-1, 31 ?s) who lost the WBC featherweight title to the Philippines Luisito Espinosa in Tokyo on December 11, 1995..
The winner will earn a crack at IBF champion Cassius Baloyi.
In another title eliminator WBC International featherweight champion Jeffrey Mathebula will drop down one division to take on another Mexican Julio Zarate with the winner earning a mandatory crack at the reigning world champion Steve ?The Canadian Kid? Molitor.
The third IBF eliminator on the card will pit South African minimum weight Zukisani Kwayiba clash with Colombia ?s Ronald Barrera for the right to challenge IBF champion Raul ?Rayito? Garcia who won the title from the Philippines Florante Condes.
Barrera must win to earn a rematch against Garcia who won an eliminator for the right to take on Condes for the title.
Milenkovic said he was working hard to keep a high standard that would enable him to market South Africa as ?a boxing destination.?
