WBO bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa has been left high and dry after his planned title defense against Nestor Rocha in Tubod, Lanao del Norte was called off due to the uncertain peace and order conditions in the region.

In a telephone conversation with www.insidesports.ph, Viva Sports and Manila Standard Today, Penalosa said he was studying alternate plans of possibly staging the fight in Cebu which was also being explored by promoter Sammy Gello-ani whose help Penalosa had previously sought.

Gello-ani also disclosed that another problem was that Golden Boy Promotions who handle Rocha and had arranged a title shot against Penalosa on the undercard of the Juan Manuel Marquez ? Joel Casamayor lightweight title fight on September 13 ?want to get Rocha back? since the Tubod fight had been called off.

In an overseas telephone conversation with Inside Sports, Penalosa?s manager Billy Keane said Penalosa ?may probably have to sit till December because I don?t know whether I can put another fight together for him.?

Keane said he was not sure how Golden Boy Promotions would react since they believe that Penalosa was ?unreasonable the last time around? when he turned down an offer of $125,000 and $5,000 training expenses to fight Rocha in Las Vegas on September 13.

However, Keane said he would try and get Penalosa back on that fight card although there were indications Penalosa would not be willing.

Keane hasn?t spoken to Penalosa as yet regarding the latest developments.
