Placido Dosdos, a cancer-stricken 76 year old diehard fan of Filipino ring idol and national treasure Manny Pacquiao who migrated to the U.S some years ago and now lives in Chicago has gone ballroom dancing.

Dosdos, a former customs official in Cebu met his longtime idol Pacquiao during a promotional pep rally in Chicago prior to Pacquiao?s ?Lethal Combination? showdown with David Diaz. Dosdos who was ecstatic after the encounter and a photo session with Pacquiao watched the fight on television and was jumping for joy when Pacquiao scored a ninth round stoppage over Diaz to win the WBC lightweight championship.

Placido Dosdos (L) goes ballroom dancing.

The daughter of Dosdos, Gigi Dosdos Jardine said in an email forwarded to Viva Sports special correspondent Romy Sajer in Chicago that her father had made a remarkable recovery since the meeting with his idol and hero and that he had even cast aside his cane and now even goes ballroom dancing with other senior citizens at Chicago?s Department of Aging.

Gigi Jardine said her dad was ?so alive and very happy? and that thanks to Pacquiao ?he is a different person."
