Nery Does It Again: Overweight, But Casimero Says Let’s Fight!

Luis "Pantera" Nery the Mexican slugger and former world champion set to face our Johnriel Casimero in Saturday’s co-main event in Japan, missed weight BADLY at the first weigh-in.

Nery came in 1.5 kg over the 124-lb contract limit.

The bearded, heavy-puncher Mexican from Tijuana was given 2 hours to cut more, pero only managed to drop 100 grams at the re-weigh. Weigh-in failed. 😬

Needless to say that Nery has done exactly the same stuff again and again. Pero, since it’s a non-title fight and Casimero gave the green light, the much-wanted rumble will go ahead today.

The winner super increases his chances to become an attractive challenger for "The Monster" Naoya Inoue, what do you think?

But there’s one more hurdle: Nery has a final weigh-in on June 6 at 8 AM.

If he’s more than 10 pounds over the 124 pounds limit then, the fight is absolutely OFF.

Weight games or just unprofessional? Either way, Casimero’s ready, and we stand by him, and this is a tough mission.

Best of luck to Casimero, May the Best Man Win 🇵🇭 Laban Pinoy!!
