Team USA Secures Three More Wins In Foz Do Iguacu
FOZ DO IGUACU, Brazil (April 22, 2026) – USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance continued its strong run at the World Boxing Cup – Stage 1 in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, picking up three more wins throughout Wednesday's schedule.
Team USA secured two wins in the first session on Wednesday morning from Yoseline Perez (54 kilograms) and Salim Ellis-Bey (60 kilograms). Perez got things started for the Stars and Stripes, as the Houston native secured her third unanimous decision win of 2026. Perez won the first round 4-1 and swept the final two rounds, earning her first victory of the tournament.
Moving on to Ellis-Bey, the Philadelphia native will advance to the quarterfinals after winning via walkover against Ireland’s Jude Gallagher. This marks Ellis-Bey’s fourth win in 2026. He will now face Kyrgyzstan’s Munarbek Seiitbek Uulu on Friday, April 24.
Securing a win in the second session on Wednesday was Simona Winkler (70 kilograms), marking her first victory of the tournament and her second unanimous decision win of 2026. After earning a 5-0 decision over New Zealand’s Morgan Henderson, Winkler will now face England’s Chantelle Reid in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 24.
Team USA also saw Alisha Crockett (60 kilograms) compete on Wednesday in her tournament opener against Canada’s Marie Al Ahmadieh. Crockett kept it close throughout the bout and entered the final round with a 2-1 deficit but ultimately fell short to Al Ahmadieh by a 4-1 decision.
Team USA will have a full day of action on Thursday with three boxers entering the ring in Session 1 and two in Session 2. Noelle Haro (51 kilograms) will get things started for the United States in Session 1, Ring B, Bout 1, at approximately 10:00 a.m. ET against Canada’s McKenzie Wright. This marks Haro’s highly anticipated tournament and international debut.
Following Haro in Session 1, Lorenzo Patricio will return to the ring after his 4-1 victory on Tuesday. The Hawaii native will face England’s Ellis Trowbridge in the Round of 16 in Ring B, Bout 6, at approximately 11:15 a.m. ET. Rounding out Session 1 for Team USA, Marcus Luther (65 kilograms) will square off with Moldova’s Alexandru Paraschiv in the Round of 16 in Ring B, Bout 11, at approximately 12:30 p.m. ET.
Moving on to the second session, Team USA will be represented by Yoseline Perez in the quarterfinals, where she will face China’s Yunman Gan in Ring A, Bout 3, at approximately 4:30 p.m. ET. Following Perez, Marie-Angelis Rosendo will face Poland’s Kinga Krówka in the Round of 16 in Ring B, Bout 6, at approximately 5:15 p.m. ET.
At the World Boxing Cup - Stage 1, USA Boxing is led by Head Coach Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and assisted by National Development Coach Edward Fonteneaux (Fayetteville, N.C.) and Elite High Performance Coach Nikki Burleson (Oklahoma City, Okla.).
