JASON MELLIGEN?S AUSSIE DEBUT ON 'THE MAIN EVENT'

Popular Philippine light welterweight champion Mark Jason Melligen?s Australian debut will be featured on the top-rated Viva Sports weekly boxing show "The Main Event" at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday over IBC 13, sponsored by Tanduay, the No.1 Rhum and Pagcor, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.

The show will be replayed the following Sunday at 10:00 p.m. over the increasingly popular cable station Viva Prime which is also carried by Destiny Cable.

The hard-hitting southpaw Melligen who is only 22 years old battled Thailand?s Payakchai Sithraparadorn at the Knox Netball Center in Ferntree Gully in Melbourne in a promotion of Australia?s former ?Promoter of the Year? and respected TV host Peter Maniatis.

Melligen with a record of 10-1 with 7 knockouts scored a ten round unanimous decision over Indonesia?s Tia Koswara in his last bout on February 2 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City.

Payakchai had a record of 11- 4 with 4 knockouts prior to his battle with Melligen.

In another exciting fight on ?The Main Event? staged by well-known promoter Sammy Gello-ani in cooperation with Viva Sports and hosted by popular Mayor Jojo Lopez of Maasin with the support of youthful and talented governor Miguel ?Migs? Dominguez of Sarangani province, Ramie Laput (28-3-1) makes his comeback from a one year layoff against rugged Daniel ?Flash? Diolan.

Laput, one of the more promising bantamweights is now under the wings of the American Boxing Academy which is beginning to earn a name for itself.
