Veteran point guard Kyle Lowry of the Philadelphia 76ers made NBA history by entering the court against the Brooklyn Nets this past weekend for his first game of the 2025-26 season.
It has been revealed that the 39-year-old Lowry became the twelfth player to have played at least 20 seasons in the NBA and the third-oldest active player in the league, surpassed only by LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers (23 seasons) and Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers (21 seasons).
During his limited playing time on Sunday, Lowry attempted a three-pointer in the final minutes and made it. The 6-foot-0 Villanova alum also contributed an assist and a steal.
Lowry was selected six times to the All-Star Game and once to the All-NBA First Team while playing nine years with the Toronto Raptors between 2012 and 2021. He averaged 17.5 points on 42.5% shooting from the field, 37.7% from three-point range, and 82.5% from the free-throw line, along with 7.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.
Lowry ranks 28th on the all-time assists list with 6,469.
Lowry signed a long-term contract with Amazon Prime Video's new streaming service to serve as a contributing analyst, even while he continues playing.
