
Biado, Magpantay enter last 32 round of Qatar World Cup 10-Ball

Birthday boy and world champion Carlo Biado and Jonas Magpantay entered the Last 32 round of the Qatar World Cup 10-Ball after defeating their respective opponents Thursday at the Ezdan Palace in Doha, Qatar.
The San Juan, La Union native Biado who celebrated his 42nd birthday on Friday dominated Konstantin Stepanov of Russia in the Last 64 with the score of 11-6, while the 31-year-old Cubao, Quezon City resident Magpantay trounced World Games gold medalist Oliver Szolnoki of Hungary, 11-7.
Thus, the two Filipinos will face each other in the Last 32.
Other cue masters who advanced to the next round were Shane Van Boening of the USA, Moritz Neuhausen of Germany, Bader Alawadhi of Kuwait, Lo Ho Sum of Hongkong, Jonas Souto of Spain, Robbie Capito of Hongkong, Mateusz Sniegocki of Poland, Wojciech Szewczyk of Poland, Roman Hybler of Czech Republic, Mohammad Soufi of Syria and Dang Jin Hu of Vietnam.
Organized by the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation and sanctioned by the World Pool Association, the event offers a total pot prize of US$450,000 with the champion getting the lion's share of US$100,000.
The runner-up will earn US$40,000, while the semi-finalists will receive US$15,000, the quarter-finalists will bring home US$8,000.
The last 16, the last 32, the last 64 and the last 96 will go empty handed with a guranteed US$5,000, US$4,000, US$3,000, and US$1,500, respectively.-Marlon Bernardino-
