Battle of Undefeated: Callum Walsh Vanquishes Fernando Vargas Jr.

In the co-main event of the Canelo vs Crawford megafight Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and in a battle of the undefeated, Freddie Roach-trained Irishman Callum Walsh won by wide unanimous decision over Fernando Vargas Jr in their 10-round super welterweight fight. Scores were 99-91, 99-91 and 100-90.
The fight was more competitive the the scores suggested but Walsh, who now improved his record to 15 wins with 11 stoppages, was just a tad better at each round and had a runaway score in the end. Vargas, son of and trained by former popular world champion Fernando Vargas Sr., absorbed his first loss and dropped to 17-1-0, 15KOs.
