Arca wins 13th Mindanao Open chessfest

FIDE Master Christian Gian Karlo Arca only needed a draw in the last game to win the 13th Mindanao Open Chess Gov. Emmylou Talino-Mendoza tournament last August 25 in Kidapawan City.
Arca of Zamboanga City settled to a draw with compatriot NM Joey Albert Florendo in the 8th round to finish with 7.5 points.
Florendo together with Jimmy Dano of Digos City and Sohaily Bazer of Kidapawan finished with 7.0 points.
Arca earlier beat Jawad Bazer and AIM Philip John Leyson of Kidapawan, Garry Carcallas of Makilala, Michael Gastala of Koronadal, Dano and Mhyl Crese Wayne Patrimonio of Digos and Allen Mirano of Aleosan.
