"I come from Cuba, and I’ve stared down tougher shadows than this. I don’t just want to win — I want to dominate"

ORLANDO, FL (August 18, 2025) – Middleweight standout Yoelvis Gomez (8-1, 7 KOs), who is co-promoted by Boxlab Promotions and Warriors Boxing, is gearing up for his upcoming 10-round showdown with Edwine Humaine (9-1, 7 KOs). After pushing himself through a relentless training camp, Gomez is locked in and ready to deliver a statement performance under the bright lights. Gomez is set to unleash his best performance yet.

The fight will take place Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida, as part of MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 14 card, streaming live on DAZN. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.

Here is what Yoelvis Gomez, fighting out of Las Vegas by way of Havana, Cuba, had to say about his upcoming matchup with Humaine, his recent training camp with world renowned coach, Ismael Salas, fighting for WBA Continental Latin America title, and more.

Yoelvis knows Humaine is a formidable opponent — but this fight is personal, and he’s ready to show the world what “La Joya” brings. “Edwine Humaine is no joke — he’s fast, heavy-handed, and hungry. But I come from Cuba, and I’ve stared down tougher shadows than this. Come fight night, he’ll feel my rhythm, my angles, and my heartbeat. I don’t just want to win — I want to dominate.”

Under the watchful eye of Coach Salas, Yoelvis pushed past limits he didn’t know he had — and came out sharper, stronger, and more determined during his recent training camp. “Training in the ring with Coach Salas has been relentless — his voice in my corner is a drill straight to my spirit. He’s made every punch matter, every round count. My body is bruised and tired, but my mind is honed like a blade. With him in my corner, there’s no coming back from this but with your hands up.”

Standing on the brink of his first regional title — this fight isn’t just another notch on the belt — it’s the key to Gomez’ legacy. “Winning the WBA Continental Latin America title will bring validation to my name. It says I’ve earned my place among contenders. I’ve fought through setbacks, through doubt, through late nights when my body begged for rest. This fight is a crucial point in my career.

The lights, the global stage, the fans watching from every corner of the world — Yoelvis is ready to make them feel every punch he throws. “This is my moment to shine on DAZN and on MVP’s Prospect 14 card. Millions will be watching, and I’m bringing the fire of Las Vegas and Havana to their screens. One win here, and the buzz starts, and everyone will know who Yoelvis ‘La Joya’ Gomez is. This is the kind of night that defines careers.”

Amaury Piedra, President of Boxlab Promotions, sees Yoelvis as more than just a prospect — he’s a star on the rise, and every fight confirms it. “Yoelvis Gomez has been lighting up the ring with every performance. The way he brings power, precision, and passion — it’s rare. He’s not just winning fights — he’s building himself as a fighter that is must watch TV. A victory here doesn’t just elevate him — it announces him.”
